We have been working on "Basic Geometric Constructions", and I have to admit it is a little bit "dry" on its own. A student asked me today if we were going to do something related to Halloween... so take this video as an apetizer!

15 THINGS ABOUT ME
This has been our final activity in the Computer Lab, you all showed a great interest not just working on it, but sharing your works with others. I enjoyed it a lot too, specially discovering things about you that were hidden! Here goes a few examples of your creations:

WORKSHOP: "TÀPIES FRENTE A TÀPIES"
This is a workshop from the Tomás y Valiente Art Center from Fuenlabrada. A marvelous Art Center just around the corner from our High School. It offers fantastic workshops and a lot of different activities for everyone open to learn new ways of doing things, new ways of learning.
LEARNING BY DOING, that is exactly what our students did here. We had the wonderful chance to see a unique exhibition about Tàpies, three months after his death (February the 6th, 2012). He was a Catalan painter, sculptor and art theorist, who became one of the most famous European artists of his generation. He stood out because of his heavy brushstrokes and the range of textures. His work is associated with both Abstraction Lyrique or Tachism (Art Informel) and Abstract Expressionism. He was always depicted for his greative genius that he mantained all his life. This unique exhibition confronts or compares his earlier and later works, to play with his own concept about duality (Ying and Yang).
We visited the exhibition first to find out more about Tàpies and his works of art, and to learn a little bit more about his techniques, such us frottage, grattage, collage, or Arte Povera.
After the visit our students created their own original and creative interpretations of "Tàpìes", playing with different materials, such as food condiments, like herbs and spices, and different types of graphic elements, to create dots, lines and planes (the basic elements of the visual image).
Afterwards we got together and we had a little discussion about their creations. Everyone had the opportunity to observe and coment eachother works of art and artistic intentions and feelings about it. We all really enjoyed it!

PERFORMANCE ART
This is Performance Art done by the students of 3rd E ESO in the Contemporary Art Museum of Móstoles (CA2M, Centro de Arte 2 de Mayo). We have been previously working in class a workshop with several exercises to get to understand the performance art. This is a term usually reserved to refer to a conceptual art which conveys a content-based meaning in a more drama-related sense,
rather than being a simple performance for its own sake for entertainment
purposes. Although it was not easy for them to understand, it was quite a good experience and it gave them the chance to work in another atmosphere, not limited by the walls of the High School. Their behaviour was also very different from the behaviour they normally have in class. I have to say I was not surprised, I knew they would be deeply involved with this activity. They did performances on the streets of Móstoles, and afterwards we had a meeting to discuss our feelings and thoughts about it. It was indeed, an excellent workshop!
WORKING WITH CLAY
Our students from Crafts have been doing pottery these last weeks. We still have to wait for the results, wait until the clay dries and then paint it. The final process will be the kiln, Emilio is the expert with it, so we will follow carefully his instructions. The kiln is a very important part on this process. We are all fascinated with the clay!

Car Pitches
The students from 1st B/E have done Car Pitches, it was an interesting activity, we all enjoyed it. They have shown that they all have a really good sense of teamwork, helping each other in everything they could, and organizing pretty well, not just the work in class, but also their presentations. They have also done original and futuristic designs, I have to admit I was impressed by their work!

Sand painting
A day of learning, experimentation, and fun in the computer lab! Working in partners, we explored the website <thisissand.com> and used the tools we found there to create original, colorful, and interesting paintings with sand. Go to the website's gallery to see some of our designs and others too! :-)

Making of "the Masquerade Masks"
Beautiful Plaster Masks done by the students of 1º D ESO. We all (myself included) really enjoyed it! It was a bit of a mess, but enjoyable, and an excellent result. Your masks look really good in the Main Hall, I did not want to take them down, but we will have to for your next project... sculptures!!!
