Texture

The visual elements of an image are THE POINT, THE LINE, THE SHAPE, THE COLOUR AND THE TEXTURE.

During these passed first and second terms we have seen four of these visual elements: the Point, the Line, the Shape and the Colour. The next visual element to see is TEXTURE.

TEXTURE is a powerful art element because it can quickly evoke memories and emotions. Start becoming more aware of textures all around you—the carpet, in the clothes you’re wearing, and the fur on your cat. Check these presentation and video to get a better idea of this concept:

DOTS, LINES AND TEXTURES

To end the first term let's complete this final task. Deadline is the first week of January. So,  you can take your time over Christmas! Take a look at some of the videos about "How to draw a Zendala", it might give you a few ideas. And... Merry Christmas!! Enjoy your holidays!

NEXT TASK: A SHORT COMIC STRIP

Our next task will be a short six-frame comic strip. Check all the information given to help you understand the vocabulary for the different formats, shots and artistic resources used in comics. If you want some information about the History of Comics, just check it out below! As well as some Fun Online Comic Creators.

BODY LANGUAGE

15 THINGS ABOUT ME

This has been our final activity in the Computer Lab, you all showed a great interest not just working on it, but sharing your works with others. I enjoyed it a lot too, specially discovering things about you that were hidden! Here goes a few examples of your creations:

PERFORMANCE ART

This is Performance Art done by the students of 3rd E ESO in the Contemporary Art Museum of Móstoles (CA2M, Centro de Arte 2 de Mayo). We have been previously working in class a workshop with several exercises to get to understand the performance art. This is a term usually reserved to refer to a conceptual art which conveys a content-based meaning in a more drama-related sense, rather than being a simple performance for its own sake for entertainment purposes. Although it was not easy for them to understand, it was quite a good experience and it gave them the chance to work in another atmosphere, not limited by the walls of the High School. Their behaviour was also very different from the behaviour they normally have in class. I have to say I was not surprised, I knew they would be deeply involved with this activity. They did performances on the streets of Móstoles, and afterwards we had a meeting to discuss our feelings and thoughts about it. It was indeed, an excellent workshop!

WORKING WITH CLAY

Our students from Crafts have been doing pottery these last weeks. We still have to wait for the results, wait until the clay dries and then paint it. The final process will be the kiln, Emilio is the expert with it, so we will follow carefully his instructions. The kiln is a very important part on this process. We are all fascinated with the clay!

Ceramics

Our students from Crafts have been working with ceramic chalk on tiles, and applying afterwards a specific varnish for ceramics. We have to wait for the kiln, and then we will see...
